How do I send checks?
To send a check, click on the Move Money tab on the bottom of your Clair App*, and then click on Mail a check. You will need to name the person or company you want to send the check to and provide the delivery address. Each check costs $2.00 to send. Your check is mailed the following business day, and then it will take 3-7 business days for the check to arrive under standard mailing timelines. To avoid having to resend checks, make sure that the name you will be putting on the check perfectly matches the legal name of either the individual or business that you are paying. Banking Services provided by Pathward, N.A., Member FDIC. *Standard data charges may apply.

Why is the account called a Spending Account instead of a Checking Account?
Your Clair Spending Account is not a "checking account" because it does not issue personal checks. You Clair Spending Account functions as a debit account that you can use for purchases, cash withdrawals, ACH transfers to pay bills or to individuals, instant transfers, and even mailing cashier's checks. A cashier's check will withdraw funds immediately and send them to the destination address. This is unlike a personal check where funds are not withdrawn until the recipient cashes or deposits the check. Banking Services provided by Pathward, N.A., Member FDIC. Are there any overdraft fees or fees to close the account?
Simply put, no. Clair does not allow overdraft of your account and therefore no overdraft fees are charged. Overdraft is defined as a banking platform paying for a charge that your account did not have enough funds for, which many other banks charge fees for. With Clair, if there are not enough funds in your account at the time of purchase, the transaction will be declined. We don't believe in charging you for not having enough money in your account. There are also no fees for closing your account. If you have an advance that has not yet been repaid, you will need to settle that advance prior to account closure, but no fees are charged if you decide to close your account. Additionally there are no fees to keep your account open. If you decide you don't want to use your Clair Spending and Savings accounts, no fees are charged for lack of activity. What does up to 2 days early pay mean?
Sometimes, it can take a few days for your paycheck to fully process, which is why even though your employer may process payroll in advance of your payment date, you usually still have to wait until your scheduled payment date to receive your paycheck. Clair makes your paycheck available the same day we receive it, which means if your employer processes payroll early, you might be able to access your money up to 2 days before your scheduled payday.* Not all employers send payroll information before payday, so early pay is dependent on your employer's payroll processes. Early pay is not a loan or an advance, just your paycheck, as early as possible! If it's your scheduled payday and you don't see the money in your Spending Account, reach out to your employer to see if they've processed your paycheck and make sure it is scheduled to direct deposit into your Clair Spending Account. If so, your paycheck is on its way, and will be deposited in your Clair Spending Account as soon as we receive it! Banking Services provided by Pathward, N.A., Member FDIC. *Early access to direct deposit funds depends on the timing of the submission of the payment file from the payer. We generally make these funds available on the day the payment file is received, which may be up to two days earlier than the scheduled payment date.
